Many of our clients have asked about the Castle Keep that serves as our logo. In Scotland, as elsewhere in Europe, the Castle Keep was the tower which was built as the most protected part of the castle. The word 'Keep' means "that which keeps or protects - the strongest and securest part of a castle, often used as a place of residence by the lord of the castle". Duarte Castle, Isle of Mull, Scotland (image below) is the ancestral home of the Clan MacLean, of which McLain is a sept (a family proceeding from a common progenitor) and of which Dr. McLain is descended. The WDA logo is derived from the MacLean clan badge. Suitably, WDA clients have come to trust and expect that we will provide them with a similar sense of "keep" (security) with our strategic evidence-based solutions for product safety and development.  - D. E. McLain, President, WDA

“Virtue Mine Honor” is the slogan engraved on the original MacLean clan badge. Translated from the Gaelic “Is í an tsuáilce mo ghradam”, it literally means “virtue is the mark of my honour”.
